Vista Activation: 0×8007232B – DNS name does not exist
If you have installed a Volume licence version on Vista business / Enterprise, you may get the below error message when trying to active the product
a pretty useless error message, but it does have a very easy fix, simply go to computer and then ‘change Product Key’ enter in the same product key that you had previously used for the VISTA installation.
That’s it it should activate within seconds.

Oh sweet merciful crud. That’s all it took. Thank you so much for describing the fix in 25 words or less. The knowledge base article on this issue made me want to yell at kittens.

Works on Windows 7 as well.
Tell me why Microsoft Customer Support doesn’t tell the same nice way .. I was instructed to remove the internet connection, try different activation methods, call customer service again, have the confirmation generated automatically.
Instead, I tried google. Or bing. And now it’s activated.

The proper files were still web web. I thought it was strange, and even after changing the group as your instructions said, there was no change in how this displayed in both putty and filezilla. However, I tested uploading to my blog and it worked like a charm! I am not sure what is going on with the group thing, but somehow it must have worked. I’m curious as to what the deal is with that. In any case, Thank you so much!
